How to create an ever expanding network marketing business
You have probably heard that network marketing is all about finding and creating leaders, but what is leadership really?
It all boils down to this: Making sure things get done.
Now this sounds pretty straightforward and when i ask at my seminars if people are leaders everyone yells in unison “yeahhhh we are all leaders – we all make sure things get done”
But when we take a closer look there is usually only 1 out of 20 people that is really acting like a leader. Allow me to explain.
In every company there are certain things you have to DO and HAVE to have to be successful.
For example it could be being subscribed to the team newsletter it could be having a certain promotion or training tool. But whatever company you are in the following things have to be
on your MUST LIST;
To be successful any distributor MUST:
Do presentations regularly.
Prospect regularly.
Come to the big events.
Have promotion/training tools.
Have products.
In your company there may be some other things on this list and if you don’t have that list
I highly encourage you to write it down right now.
In our company for example we have the following on our list of musts:
Must do’s:
Prospect regularly (5 days a week or more)
Flip the charts. Meaning doing presentations. (Every week)
Come to the big events.(every time)
Must have’s
MAP book (basic manual /training)
Table top flip chart presentation.
Products.
When most people look at this list they soon realize that there are probably one or several things on that list that are not ticked off. Yet they expect to be successful and they see themselves as leaders.
That is of course delusional. If you are one of them, I have one thing to say to you.
Get out of your dream-world, get real. This is a business! You have to work and improve
yourself to get results.
Ok so far I probably haven’t covered any revolutionary concepts, but let’s take it to the next level.
Even if you are doing all the above things and have the right tools it DOESNT qualify you as a leader. So what does?
It’s making sure YOUR people have all the items on the “must-list” ticked. It’s making sure there
is GROWTH every week. Making sure your people come to the big events, it’s making sure
THEY have the tools.
And here is the big AHA for me and the core of problems in most team AND the solution.
Letting them know is not the same as making sure they do what’s necessary.
Sending people emails or skyping them, telling them what to do is NOT leading. That’s training at best. I have so many people that tell me BUT IVE TOLD MY PEOPLE TO DO THIS I’ve told them to come to the events etc etc.
And what I say back is: “OK and did it work”? I always get a frustrated look and a “NOO, butbutbut I told them”.
Yes and that’s exactly the problem, telling or letting people know doesn’t work with the exception of a few people that are taking responsibility for themselves. You’ve probably heard that telling is not selling and telling is not leading either.
So here is what you have to do to put your duplication in overdrive. You have to change your whole attitude about leadership and your team. If you don’t take responsibility for getting them to do what they need to initially, they are not going to do it themselves. If YOU take responsibility for getting them to do it, they will eventually start to do it. Because you will of course MAKE SURE(not just tell them) that they start to take responsibility for getting things done.
You have to monitor points, new people, which teams are growing and which are not etc etc.
You have get commitments from your people that they WILL do whatever it is necessary, you have to get commitments that they will buy the required tools.
And first of all you have to do all this in depth. Sounds like a lot of work - you bet.
Does it work? You bet. Is it worth the work? Absolutely. It’s like duplication and growth on steroids and the ONLY way to create predictable and continuous growth.
If you understand this principle you have just figured out why most teams only grow to 2nd or 3rd level and you will have the key to the promised land of the ever-expanding network marketing business.
